Ponytail Barbie 3, 4 and 5
Vintage Barbie Doll
Ponytail Barbie 3, 4 and 5 dolls were each designed with slight differences that made each unique in its own way. It's these differences that help Collectors identify dolls today. Despite the differences, they all had that famous black and white swimsuit in common.

Ponytail Barbie Number 3
Number 3 ponytail Barbie had either blue or brown eyeliner. It was the only time for both, but blue eyeliner is rarer. Some came with a braided ponytail. The body smells like crayon and fades to an ivory color.

Ponytail Barbie Number 4
The #4 ponytail Barbie was made using a new vinyl that retained its color - did not fade to ivory like the earlier dolls. Available in blonde or brunette, with the main difference being that that was now a hard curl at the end of the ponytail. Some #4 vintage Barbie dolls came with a factory braided ponytail.

Ponytail Barbie Number 5
Ponytail Barbie number 5 was the first to be introduced with a hollow body, making them not as easy to bend. Many #5 Vintage Barbie Dolls have a "greasy" looking face due to the type of vinyl used at the time. Also, titian colored hair was offered for the first time, along with blonde and brunette.
